Who we are
Meeting the Needs of the Hungry
Florida Hunters For The Hungry is a statewide 501(c)(3) nonprofit that funds the processing and delivery of donated wild game — putting protein-rich meals on the tables of food-insecure families.
Our mission
Funding the path from harvest to table
Florida Hunters For The Hungry is a statewide 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2018. We fund the processing and delivery of wild game meat donated by hunters, farmers, and ranchers, so that safe, lean, protein-rich food reaches families facing hunger across Florida.
We were inspired by the national Hunters for the Hungry movement and its simple, powerful idea: the hunting community's generosity can be organized into a reliable food source. Florida's hunters harvest hundreds of thousands of pounds of venison and wild pork every season — we make sure part of that abundance becomes meals rather than going unused.
We do not sell anything. We do not take a harvest for ourselves. Every dollar we raise goes toward the certified processing, cold storage, and transportation that stands between a donated animal and a family's dinner plate.
No family in Florida should go hungry when the state's fields and forests are this generous.
How it works
From field to family in four steps
01
The harvest is donated
Hunters, farmers, and ranchers across Florida donate legally harvested deer and hogs at drop-off points near them.
02
Certified processing
We fund certified, licensed processors who handle every donation under inspected, food-safe conditions.
03
Delivery to food partners
Processed protein is delivered to food banks, pantries, and community partners across the state.
04
Families are fed
Families receive lean, high-quality protein through the organizations already serving their neighborhoods.
Where the protein goes
Local partners, statewide reach
Certified meat is delivered to the food banks, faith-based pantries, and community kitchens that serve Florida's food-insecure families — organizations like Metropolitan Ministries in Tampa Bay and partner pantries across the state.
